THE FOREST
You were born into a story you didn’t write.
Before you had language for love, you were already learning its rules.
Every family has an emotional landscape: who arrives, who disappears, who needs too much, who must be
pleased, who is allowed to take up space, and who learns to become small.
Dark Inheritance calls this landscape The Forest — the inherited family system you were dropped into.
You did not choose the Forest. But you learned how to survive inside it.
WHO LIVED IN YOUR FOREST?
The figures below are not diagnoses. They are archetypes — a way of recognising what your nervous system
learned love could feel like.
WHO RAISED YOU ?
GHOST, GHOUL, FALSE GOD ?

Ghost
The one who was there…but never really present.
LOVE DISAPPEARS.
The Ghost may be physically present but emotionally unreachable, inconsistent or elsewhere. The child learns to watch, wait and notice absence.
Ghoul
The one who loved you…but swallowed your life.
LOVE CONSUMES.
The Ghoul does not disappear. The Ghoul comes too close. Need, guilt, intrusion or emotional hunger can make love feel like losing the border around yourself.

False God
The one who loved your image, not your soul.
LOVE MUST BE EARNED.
The False God may be brilliant, magnetic, admired or difficult to please. Love becomes connected to performance, approval and the pressure to shine correctly.

Light God
The one who could love you without requiring you to disappear.
LOVE REMAINS.
The Light God is not perfect. The difference is consistency: room for repair, difference, boundaries and a
self that does not have to perform, rescue or vanish in order to belong.
But the people in your Forest were only the beginning.
Children do not simply experience a family system. They adapt to it.
One learns to wait. Another becomes useful. Another performs. Another runs. Another learns to measure
herself through the eyes of others.
