MONIQUE HANNA.

Psychotherapist, writer and creator of Dark Inheritance

Monique Hanna is a psychotherapist, writer and creator of Dark Inheritance, a psychological
framework exploring the hidden family patterns we carry into adult life.
Her work sits at the intersection of psychology, lived experience and storytelling, using archetypes to
make complicated emotional dynamics immediately recognisable.
But Monique did not discover the Forest from a textbook.
She lived inside it.

She has been the daughter of a Ghost and a Ghoul, the woman drawn to False Gods, the Rescuer,
the addict — and eventually the therapist trying to understand the architecture beneath it all.
Her perspective therefore comes from both sides of the therapeutic room: professional knowledge and
lived experience.
Dark Inheritance grew from a question that was both personal and professional:

Why can we understand that a relationship is hurting us — and still feel powerfully

drawn towards it?

The answer led backwards, into childhood, family systems and the nervous system’s extraordinary
tendency to recognise the familiar as home.
Monique’s work is not about blaming parents or remaining trapped in the past. It is about naming what
was inherited, understanding what we became in response to it, and discovering that an adaptation
which once protected us does not have to direct the rest of our lives.
